A sufficiently high KH value (between 6° and 11°) is very important because it stabilizes the pH value and functions as a buffer against a strong and sudden pH drop (so-called pH crash).
This ensures that the biological processes run undisturbed and that your fish and biological life are not harmed by strong pH fluctuations.
